Hunting for a Condo

Due to a case of pneumonia I think (I diagnosed myself -Wikipedia Rocks!), I wasn't able to see any of the new lofts on my list (Fremont Lofts, Kettle Brook Lofts, University Park Lofts) last weekend. I was well enough to attend the "Pre-Grand Opening" of Kettle Brook Lofts. I definetely was a little skeptical. All the amenities seemed too good to be true, especially for Worcester: Plasma TVs, a wine refridgerator, just to name a few. I had driven by the Tuesday after work and was iffy about the location. They are located right down Rt.9 on the Worcester/ Leicester boarder. I got to meet the developer Paul Saleba and the designer which was nice...I got to grill them on their "vision". The had an ample amount of mimosas and chocolate covered strawberries to keep everyone happy. I made sure to bring my camera and took a few pictures. The quality of materials used was impressive: marble floors, bowl sinks and jacuzzi tubs in the bathroom; granite countertops and a wine refridgerator (standard!). The two lofts they had open were roughly 750 square feet. I more in the market for something in the 950+ square footage range. There were some lofts that had a terrace/balcony over looking the water, which
would be pretty awesome in the summer, especially for entertaining. I did think it was pretty cool to see "mini rapids" running under the building.

Kettle Brook's concept is "Loft living at an affordable price"....I think I would rather they have more 900+ sq.ft lofts rather than a bunck of 500-600 sq.ft lofts selling at $139K. I think they would be alot more appealing to buyers (I overheard one visitor talking about purchasing two side by side!) and the resale would be alot easier in the future.
I think I'll head back tommorow and take additional pictures to post. Here's a great article in Worcester Magazine discussing the "Loft/Condo Craze" in Worcester.
